The True Meaning of Christmas and Se Co Mot Ngay
Sunday, December 21, 2008

I love the Christmas season. Back when I was a little girl, I used to just care about getting presents. But now as time's passed on and I am now 14 years old, I've begun to see the true meaning of Christmas. Giving. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only son for whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" John 3:16. Because God loved us, he gave us Jesus, someone to take away our sins and give us eternal life. That's why we celebrate Christmas.

However nowadays, it's become so commercial. I see so many ads on TV about saving this much money on holiday gifts or something. I see some of my friends so obsessed with shopping for Christmas presents and getting presents. I suddenly wanted to boycott the whole Christmas gift exchange thing. But most of my relatives already bought me a present so I'll try that next year. So those of you reading this, what are you doing December 31st? Counting your presents? Thinking of what you're going to exchange this present for? As for me, I will be in my church, thanking God for sending down salvation.

Right now, "Se Co Mot Ngay" by Trish and Doanh Doanh is playing in my head. I seriously love that song. When I find that song, I will create a whole banner for it. "Se Co Mot Ngay" translate into "There will be a Day". The first line in that song is If you want to cry, then cry already. And I just think that is so beautiful. The first line of the chorus is Se co mot ngay mua xuan tro lai which means there will be a day when spring will come. I love that song. I believe it was written by Vietnamese musician Truc Ho. I seriously admire him for songwriting talents. I'm glad he's not just covering songs like a bunch of other Vietnamese artists. Vietnamese music is taking a turn on things :]

So basically my message is give to someone...and I'm not talking like a new sweater. I'm talking like a good deed. Cleaning someone's yard for no cost, volunteering at a soup kitchen, read to a little kid, something you do without benefitting yourself. Come on people, the human mind is capable of many things. If we set our minds to it, most likely we will eventually be able to accomplish it.

I think that's all I have to say for now. Short rant today, but meaningful.
Merry Early Christmas. Wish you gather with all your loved ones and celebrate :]
Let's Keep this BeBu Train moving,
And keep giving :]
