Feels Like Insomnia
Friday, June 12, 2009

Okay, I've been having insomnia for the past few days. I'd lay there and stare at the wall until I fall asleep. But I don't fall asleep until six in the morning. That's so not right.

So last night, I told myself that I'm going to sleep. So at 10 PM, I laid down in my bed and I turned off the lights and I laid there in the dark until I fell asleep. It only took about two hours for me to finally fall asleep.

You know, when it's really dark, your mind goes completely wild. Things aren't as scary as we assume that they are, but when our mind takes over, we see things that aren't really there. It's all psychological(if I spelled that right).

Anywho, it took me a while to fall asleep.

Counting sheep is fun as well.

Especially if rainbow sheep start popping out of nowhere.

After counting sheep failed, I thought I should do some reading. So I pulled out my bible and started reading. After I felt my eyes getting droopy, I laid back down in my bed.

And then I started thinking about life. But that didn't work.

So I went online and I looked up ways to fall asleep easily.

1. Sleep and get up at the same time.

2. Exercise regularly and 3 hours before you sleep.

3. Don't nap. (This one got me!)

4. Stay away from caffeine and alcoholic beverages, and also high-calorie foods. (Dang...?)

5. Make sure your room is dark but safe. Keep a lamp nearby and a phone close. (Erm, gotcha?)

6. Follow your evening routine. (What...?)

7. Give yourself 20 minutes to fall asleep.

8. Don't worry, get sleepy.

9. Get professional help. (What the HECK!)

So after that, I went back to bed and close my eyes and refuse to open them. Eventually I fell asleep.

So that was the excitement of my last few days.

How about you? How do you fall asleep? Any tips? Tell me, I can use as much help as I can get. Thank you and goodbye!

Ice Queen.
